Udfordring
Åbenbar was stuck with an outdated website containing incorrect information, and no one had access to update the content. Åbenbar wants a website they can access and that reflects their aesthetics in terms of colors and images.
Intro
Åbenbar opened in 2018 with a vision of being a local bar offering ambitious cocktails and a cozy atmosphere. They had great success with brunch on summer weekends, but due to a lack of kitchen staff, they have put the concept on hold. Åbenbar took over the spaces from the local bodega Fluesmækkeren, which had many regulars. Åbenbar has also done its best to accommodate these loyal customers, ensuring they didn’t lose their local spot to enjoy a beer.

Opgave
I had a conversation with Åbenbar’s owner and content manager about their needs for the new website. We concluded that it should be a simple website with two main focus areas: table and event booking, and easy access to the menu.
Key takeaways:
- Option for a brunch section when relevant
- Table booking
- Menu for beer, cocktails, coffee, and snacks
- Private parties / events
- Match their aesthetics using their limited image library
- Bar vibe, NOT café vibe

Menu
We agreed that the menu should be created in a PDF format, allowing both the owner and content manager to edit it. This solution was quick and easy, as I set up the menu in a Google Docs file using their new fonts and logo. The document was then saved as a template, which I shared with Åbenbar, enabling them to update the menu whenever needed.

Previous Design and Issues
No CMS: The website was built with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, making it inaccessible for the owner and content manager to update.
Not Responsive: The site was difficult to use on mobile and tablet devices, leading to a poor user experience.
Outdated Information: Since no one could edit the content, incorrect details remained on the site.
No Image Management: Any visual updates required manual coding changes, making it impractical to keep the site fresh.
Lack of Integration: There was no easy way to connect social media, meaning images had to be uploaded separately to both Instagram and the website.
These challenges highlighted the need for a user-friendly, editable, and responsive solution for Åbenbar’s new website.
